Pillar 3: De Stress & Relax - Heal Community

Hey everybody, Dr. Julie McLaughlin here. We're going to talk about pillar 3 of our Heal Community. Dr. McNamara told you about pillar two on our last video, and that one is about digestion and nutrition. So today we're going to talk about stress and relaxation. And let's face it, nowadays who couldn't use less stress and more relaxation.

If you want to check out our link it will be below. And we'll also put it in the comments below the video. So when we talk about stress we don't just talk about stress. We want to talk about stress and relaxing, and that's what this pillar is all about because we want to learn the difference between stress and stress management. And actually talk about the neuroscience of stress because our body reacts to stress. And many times we think that we can control it just by thinking and so we're going to help you with really hands on ways that you can help manage that stress.

Here's a great quote, "The time to relax is when you don't have time for it." If you're saying I don't have time for this, then you probably need it the most. So just remember that. We'll talk about some stressful triggers and getting in tune with your nervous system. The sympathetic part of your nervous system is your fight or flight, and the parasympathetic is your rest and digest.

And so knowing what these triggers are. And knowing how your body or nervous system reacts to it is going to be super important. And, as a chiropractor, we are all about the nervous system. And so this is a big part of managing your stress as well as managing your spine and your nervous system. You'll learn hands-on techniques that actually work.

You are not alone. Sometimes we think, especially in the pandemic, that we're alone and we're the only ones feeling this, but I can tell you, you are not alone. And that's why these community visits and these groups are super, super important. We have so many studies showing the great outcomes that patients are getting when they meet with us in a community. So remember in these community groups, you're going to be able to have communication with other patients from our office, with us, and with a wellness coach,

It's all about the support and the connection, and it's ongoing, it's much more than just having one little office visit where, we go over a few things.
