Pillar 5 - Sleep - Heal Community

Hey everybody, Dr. Julie McLaughlin here from McLaughlin Care. And we're talking about the Heal Community again, this week, we're going to be talking about pillar 5 which is sleep. Pillar 5 has everything you need to know about sleep, but you're too tired to ask. If that sounds like you, this pillar is going to be perfect to help you because if you ever wanted to be less stressed, have a better relationship with yourself and others, and have a deeper sense of well-being, sleep is the secret sauce that's what you need.

So how many hours of sleep are you getting? Did you know that 65% of us have trouble falling asleep and will be tired tomorrow? And I always say, today started with last night's sleep because if you didn't sleep well last night, today's not going to go so well. And the cost of sleep deprivation in the United States is over $66 billion annually.

So let's see what we can do to get a handle on better sleep. In this pillar, we're going to have four different sections. We're going to be talking about establishing routines and circadian rhythms and getting a personalized sleep plan for you working on morning and evening routines that really work.

In that first week, we're going to talk about sleep hygiene and circadian rhythms. And what are the optimal evening routine and optimal morning? Activities that would help you also, we're going to talk about the 10 biggest thieves of sleep and how to combat them. Sometimes we have things that are stealing our sleep and we don't even know about it.

That's what we're going to talk about there. We're going to talk about sleep planning and preparation and strategies for falling asleep and staying asleep. It's very personalized to you because everybody's habits are different. They're so personal. We have a sleep questionnaire that you complete on your own, and it will give you a good idea of where you need help with your sleep.

And of course, we're always there to help you as well as our health coach. We're going to talk about circadian rhythms and establishing your own sleep routine based on your circadian rhythm. And of course, we always want to do what works for you, and we're here to support you and connect with you. And that's what this group community is all about.
